Services Held Wednesday For Joseph Benesh

Funeral services for Joseph Benesh were held Wednesday of the week at the Boughton Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul W. Adix, pastor of the First Lutheran Church bringing the message. Interment took place in Evergreen Cemetery at Britt.

Joseph Benesh was born at Letomisl, Bohemia, Jan. 2, 1880, a son to Joseph and Antonio Senek-Benesh. When an infant he was received into baptism and later confirmed. He received his education in his native country where he served his apprenticeship as a carpenter and builder.

Mr. Benesh was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Kares, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kares, the wedding taking place in Vienna, Austria, Feb. 26, 1906.

Mr. and Mrs. Benesh established their first home in Vienna where they resided a number of years, then moving to Hercogovac, Yugoslavia, where they lived. In 1913 Mr. Benesh came to America, coming to Britt where he worked as a carpenter and builder mostly in the Duncan and Britt vicinities. For several years he was employed by John Victoria and also Joe Treganza, and still later with the James Drabek construction crew until his retirement.

Mrs. Benesh and the four daughters, Stephenia, Josephine, Mary and Ella, came to the States in 1926, and the family, again was united, established a home in the West part of Britt.

For the past three years Mr. Benesh had been in ill health and only in the past year of a serious nature. Sunday morning death came at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 4 days. Deceased was a respecter of all mankind, and was always known for his honesty.

Surviving are the wife, Josephine; the children, Mrs. Vincent (Stephenia) Monak, and Mrs. James (Ella) Malek, both of Berwyn, Ill.; Mrs. Frank J. (Josephine) Benesh and Mrs. Erwin (Mary) Flagler, LaGrange, Ill, There are nine grandchildren and one brother, James Benesh, at Hayfield. A sister, Mrs. Bessie Balic, lives in Yugoslavia, es well as other relatives in Europe. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
