Mrs. Simper of Garner Buried
Aged Resident Succumbs to Heart Leakage; Came to Hancock in 1888
Garner, July 23 - Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Simper, 80, were held at St. Boniface Catholic church Saturday morning with the Father M. J. Monternach in charge.
For more than one year Mrs. Simper had suffered from leakage of the heart and had been confined to her bed for two weeks prior to her death Thursday at her country home two miles west of Garner.
Catherine Eckleberg was born in Austria, Sept. 24, 1853. She was married to Frank Simper, Sr., 51 years ago in Austria. They came to Garner in 1888 and settled on the farm which had been the home of Mrs. Simper ever since. Mr. Simper died several years ago. Mrs. Simper made her home with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frank Simper, Jr. No children were born to Catherine and Frank Simper, Sr., but Mr. Simper had four children by a first marriage, the only one surviving is Mrs Fred Fritsch of Garner. Joseph Fritsch, a grandson came from Fairbault, Minn., to attend the services. Interment was in St. Boniface cemetery west of Garner.
