1917-1991Services for Mrs. Fay M. Gibbs, 74, of Garner, who died Friday, March 15, 1991 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 18, at the United Methodist Church In Garner with Rev. Robert T. Ellis as officiant.
Mrs. Richard Johnson was organist. Ushers were Vern Butz and Maynard Schoneman.
Casket bearers were David Neuberger, Jerry Myers, Dan Kadrlik, Gary Schisel, Burke Haberkamp and LuVerne Schmidt.
Burial was in Ell Township Cemetery In Klemme. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.
Fay Martha Gibbs, the daughter of John and Marie (Jahnke) Neuberger, was born February 22, 1917 on a farm near Klemme. She attended the rural schools of Ell Township and then graduated from Klemme Independent School in 1934. She received her teaching certificate at Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and then taught in the rural schools east of Klemme and also in Cerro Gordo County.
November 14, 1945, she was married to Asa E. Gibbs at the Methodist Church in Klemme. They lived almost all of their married life in Garner. She had been active as a Cub Scout Den Mother.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W., Rebekah Circle and had taught Sunday School and Bible School.
She is survived by her husband, Asa Gibbs of Garner; her son, Jotham "Joe" Gibbs and his wife, Kathy of Garner; four grandchildren, Pam, Dan, Melissa and Joe. Jr.; a sister, Ruth Neuberger of Klemme; three brothers, John Neuberger of Austin, TX, Bill Neuberger Sr. and his wife, Emma of Klemme and Merlin Neuberger and his wife, Betty of Klemme; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clarence Neuberger and Walter Neuberger; and two sisters, Mrs. May Blumer and Margaret Marie Neuberger.
