John T. Osnes, 86

Funeral services for John T. Osnes, 86, Forest City, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Steven Dornbusch and Rev. Ole Winter officiating. Interment was in Madison Township Cemetery. Casketbearers were Curtis Halverson, George Lunn, Jr., Norville Olson, Duane Pederson, Leland Pederson and Stanley Pederson. Honorary, casketbearers were James T. Osnes, Kenneth R. Osnes, John T. Osnes III, Russel N. Osnes,
Thomas P. Osnes, Jeffrey T. Osnes, Dag T. Overlie.

John T. Osnes, Sr., was born near Holstein, Ia., on April 4, 1893. He was the son of Tom and Annie (Hall) Osnes. He was baptized in a Lutheran Church near Holstein and confirmed at Ellington Prairie Lutheran Church near Garner. He received his education in the rural schools of Hancock County and attended the former Waldorf Academy. On June 16, 1916, he was married to Emma Halverson. The couple farmed in Hancock County. Mrs. Osnes died in February, 1920. He later married Barbara Pederson on June 2, 1923. They lived on a dairy farm in the Garner-Ventura area until moving to the Forest City area in 1944. Mrs. Osnes died on March 22, 1959.

John Osnes had been in failing health in . recent weeks and died on Tuesday, April 1 [1980], at a Mason City hospital.

He is survived by seven children; one sister; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Emma and Barbara; his parents; a son; and three sisters.
