FOREST CITY - Herman Gelner, 86, died Monday [15 Dec 1970] at a Forest City nursing home.

Born Dec. 15, 1883, he was the son of Ludwig and Caroline Thomas Gelner. He was married to Tillie Meckstroth April 9, 1908, in Forest City. They farmed in Madison Township until retiring to Forest City in 1966.

Surviving are his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Ida Hallett, Wichita, Kan.; Mrs. Rose Anderson, Holly, Mich. He was preceded in death by a brother, Otto.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Forest City. Dr. 0. W. Brand of Mason City, will officiate. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery with Olson Funeral Home in charge.
