Elmer Kuhlers

Clarksville, Ga. — Elmer Kuhlers, of Clarksville, Ga., formerly of Klemme, Iowa, passed away Sept. 27, 2012, at Harbersham Medical Center in Clarksville.

Services will be held later at the National Cemetery at Bushnell, Fla.

Elmer was born Jan. 31, 1921, in Cerro Gordo County to Henry and Elizabeth (Meints) Kuhlers. Elmer served in the Army during World War II. He served in the Pacific for four years.

Elmer married Eloise Etchen on May 27, 1946. They farmed in the Klemme area for many years. They later moved to Brooksville, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Eloise, of 66 years; daughter Connie (Bill) Thompson of Clarksville; son Michael (Grace) Kuhlers of Clarksville; two grandchildren, Sara Thompson and Matthew Kuhlers; one sister, Frances (Gene) Ostendorf of Rockford, Iowa; one brother Milton (Janice) Kuhlers of Stuart, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Minnie Kuhlers of Rockwell, Iowa, and Elvira Kuhlers of Meservey, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, his brothers Raymond, Clarence, and Harvey, and sister Ione Oltman, sisters-in-law Etta Kuhlers and Beverly Kuhlers, and brother-in-law Harvey Oltman.
