Caroline Lillian (Schwartz) Kluckhohn, age 83, most recently a resident of the Westview Care Center, Britt and a long time resident of Klemme, died on Friday, June 9, 2006, at the Westview Care Center, Britt.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 13, at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme. The Rev. Donna Buckman officiated. Burial was in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. The Andrews Funeral Home of Klemme was in charge of the arrangements.

Caroline Schwartz was born on November 7, 1922, on a farm at Wesley. Her parents were Pearl and Celia (Bergman) Schwartz. In 1929, the family moved to Klemme where she attended school and worked for different families cleaning and babysitting.

On July 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Kluckhohn at Cedar Falls. To this union were born two children, a daughter, Carol and a son, Larry.

She enjoyed going on bus trips with her husband, doing embroidery, playing cards and especially playing bingo. She also liked to sit by the window and watch the squirrels and birds (especially the Goldfinches) in their backyard.

Caroline worked at BMD cleaning the offices while Kenneth cleaned the shop area. They also did odd jobs helping people around town. One thing about
Caroline is that when you stopped by at dinner time, she always made sure you had something to eat. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. You could always tell when it was Sunday afternoon because the house was always
filled with polka music from the radio. Her real enjoyment was walking to Carol, Angie, and Jeffs house and taking care of their dog, Hershey, her
little buddy. While she was at Westview, she enjoyed seeing Carol and Angie's new dog, Pepper, which she named.

She was a member of the UCC's Women's Fellowship. She was always willing to help out at funerals and with cleaning of the church. Caroline had been a resident of the Westview Care Center in Britt, from October 24, 2003, until the time of her death.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Kluckhohn of Klemme; one daughter, Carol (Kluckhohn) Marchant of Klemme; a granddaughter, Angie Kluckhohn of Klemme; a grandson, Jeff Marchant and special friend, Susie
of Mason City.

Also surviving is her son, Larry Kluckhohn and his wife, Marcia of Garner; a granddaughter, Kristi Foyt and her husband, Bruce of Rosemount, Minnesota; two grandsons, Jason Kluckhohn and his wife, Nicole of Greer, South Carolina and Todd Kluckhohn of Kansas City, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Foyt, Caleb Kluckhohn; a sister-in-law, Jean Schwartz of Belmond; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herbert and Harold Schwartz; a sister, Christina Olsen and an infant sister.
