January 1988James Ford Maddick, 92, passed away Sunday, January 10, 1988 at the Hancock Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
James, the son of Thomas and Minnie Green Maddick, was born April 23, 1895 near Panora, Iowa. He attended schools in the Panora and Des Moines area.
On December 17, 1913, he was united in marriage to Hazel Kale In Des Moines. The couple Moved to Kanawha in 1923. In 1947 they moved to Pennington, MN, where they owned and operated a resort. In 1958, they retired and moved back to Kanawha. James hobbies included fishing, hunting and gardening.
Mr. Maddick was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the IOOF, and the United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Hazel on April 22, 1982, twin daughters, a grandson, a sister and son-in-law; Fred Loeffler.
Survivors include three daughters: Iliah Sorenson; Vera and her husband Clarence Abbas and Vivian and her husband Herbert Wicks, all of Kanawha. Also, seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
