Revs. Clyde Kieschnick & Robert BronsonWilliam Frederick Gilbert, the son of William F. and Edith (Pike) Gilbert, was born November 5, 1926 at Mason City. He attended school at Garner where he graduated from high school in 1944. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
After the service, he worked as an electrician in Tripp, S.D. On August 13, 1948 he married Delores Breitkreutz at her mother's home in Tripp. They moved to Garner where Bill worked for Hancock County Co-op Oil, Gjellefald Association in Forest City and then IMT in Garner, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed his family, friends and playing cards. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Garner V.F.W.He is survived by his wife, Delores of Garner; five children, Larry Gilbert and his wife, Pat, of Princeton, MO and their three children, Angi, Nickolas and Stephanie, Willie Gilbert and his wife, Beth, of Princeton, MO and their three children, Mindy, Adam and Emily, Kim Gilbert of Garner and his two children, Jeni and Michael and his granddaughter, Maddison, Rick Gilbert and his wife, Diane, of Garner and Jolene Howie and her husband, Jeff, of Garner and their three children, Billy, Jesse and Morgan; and a sister, Amy Ross of San Bernardino, CA.
He was preceded in death by his son, David in 1975; a granddaughter, Maggie Mae Howie; his parents; a sister, Kathryn Hansen and a brother, Warren Gilbert.
