Rev. Gary Arp Rev. Steve TurnerJames Davis of 312 Overmeyer Drive was born February 12, 1929,in Edgar County, IL. He was raised and received his education in Harris, IA.
On November 5, 1955, he was united in marriage with Phyllis Joens in Spirit Lake, IA. The couple lived in Forest City, IA, from 1958 to 1971, where he owned and operated Davis Radio & TV. From 1971 to 1973, they owned and operated Riverlake Resort at Hollister, MO. They then returned to Garner and Forest City. In 1987, they moved to Mason City, IA. The past year they have been residents of Algona, IA.
James was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Algona and was a WWII veteran. He enjoyed gardening, taking his grandsons fishing, and keeping track of the financial world and politics.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, of Algona, and his children; Lisa Bartz, her husband Merlin, of Grafton, Diane Engler, her husband, Alan, of
Alamagordo, NM, Darryl, his wife, Chrystel, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kathryn Thilges, her husband Kraig, of Algona, IA. Nine grandchildren; Kimberly Jorgensen, Will and Marena Bartz, Dustin and Cody Davis, Tim Engler, Ryan Davis, Joshua and Eric Thilges. Brothers; William, his wife, Bobbie, of Harris, IA, Dan, his wife, Arlene of Garner, IA, and sisters; Doris Rubsam, of Worthington, MN, Mary Michalica, her husband, Mike, of Clarendon Hills, IL, Marge Arp, her husband Gary, of Marion, IA. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Margaret (Lindley) Davis, a brother, Burton, a sister, Dorothy, two nieces and one nephew.
