RAY KELLY PASSES AWAY AT AGE OF 91
Services for Ray Kelly, 91, of Britt, who died Saturday at Westview Manor Care Center in Britt were held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt with Rev. Blane Balduf of the Congregational Church as officiant. Mrs. Dean Cataldo served as organist and soloist. Casketbearers were: Harold Jacobson, Ray Nelson, Robert Jacobson, M.E. Swan, Willie Bartik, and John Surat. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Ray Weeks Kelly, the son of James and Elvira (Ross) Kelly was born November 23, 1892, at Hartley where he later attended school. In 1911 he moved to Britt where he served his apprenticeship in barbering. He then established his own business which he ran until 1980 when he retired. He enjoyed music and taught hiimself to play the clarinet and saxophone which he played in the Hobo Band for many years. He also enjoyed sports.
He was a member of the Britt Congregational United Church of Christ, the Britt Chamber of Commerce and the Barber's Union.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes; a daughter, Mrs. L. E. "Von"Cook of Des Moines; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a nephew and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Florence Kelly and two Brothers, Frank and Roy.
