Gail Carol Linahon, the daughter of Ezra Albert and Beulah Alice (Kothe) Schaefer, was born June 29, 1933 at Hampton. She lived in Hampton until 1941 when she moved with her family to Dumont. She graduated from Dumont Consolidated School in 1951. In 1955, she went to work at Bankers Life Company in Des Moines before moving to Garner in 1956. On April 8, 1971 she was married to William Dale Linahon at Elk Point, Union, South Dakota. Gail was employed at the Ben Franklin Store in Garner and X-Size Ladies Fashion in Clear Lake. She also helped her daughter-in-law, Jan, operate the Long Horn Cafe in Garner for several years. In June of 2005, she became a resident of Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. Gail enjoyed connecting people with people through her genealogy research.
She was a member of the Hancock County, Iowa State and North Central Genealogy Societies.
Gail is survived by her children, Calvin A. (Jan) Baumgartner of Garner, Sandy (Mike) Bailey of Kalispell, MT, Peggy Linahon of Mason City, Mary (Steve) Gouge of Garner, Jerry (Melba) Linahon of Laurel, MT and Marlene (Jack) Smith of Klemme; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two brothers, Howard (Karen) Schaefer of Branson, MO and Bob (Michelle) Schaefer of Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, Nov. 25, 1986; her parents; and granddaughter, Amanda Linahon, April 16, 1981
