Death of Walter Lackore

Walter Lackore, age 20 years, died last Sunday [12 Jan 1896] at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Lackore, in Madison township. Typhoid fever was the cause of his death.

Mr. Lackore was a young man of good habits, well liked [sic] by all. About two years ago he experienced religion and associated himself with the Baptist church and since then has been an earnest and consistent Christian.

The funeral services were held Tuesday [14 Jan 1896] at the Durant school house, Rev. S. L. Rugg conducting the services, in the presence of a large attendance of neighbors and friends. The remains were laid to rest in Madison Cemetery. The INDEPENDENT extends sympathy and condolence to the bereaved family.
