Golda Margaret Carothers was born October 12, 1908 at Garner, Hancock, Iowa to John Hamilton Carothers and Bertha Mary Schleusner. She was the third of six children. Her siblings were: Evalyne, Blanche Odessa, Maurice John, Joy Ruby and Robert Wayne.

Golda married Gilbert F. Jones on September 29, 1928 at Rowan, Wright, Iowa. (Gilbert born August 23, 1906 Belmond, Wright, IA, died 1965 IA).
The couple had 3 children, a daughter and 2 sons.

Found in the 1910, 1915, 1920, 1925 censuses at Garner, Hancock, IA:
1910: John H Carethers 33, Bertha Carethers 27, Eyelyn Carethers 6[5], Blanche Carethers 4, Golda Carethers 1 5/12.

1915: Golda Carothers age 6.

1920: John Carothers 43, Bertha Carothers 38, Evelyn Carothers 15, Blanche Carothers 12, Golda Carothers 11, Morris Carothers 5, Ruby Carothers [5/12].

1925: John H Carothers 48, Bertha Carthers 42, Evelin Carothers 20, Golda Carothers 16, Marris Carothers 11, Joy Carothers 5, Wayne Carothers 3.

Found in the 1930 census at Belmond, Wright, IA: Gilbert F Jones 24, Golda M Jones 21, William J Jones 6/12 (son).

1953: Lived at Klemme, IA.

Golda died February 26, 1988 at Sibley, Osceola, Iowa.

Excerpt from "The Harris Centennial - Gilbert Jones Family" - Gilbert Jones and Golda Carothers were married September 29, 1928, at Rowan. They lived at Garner and Klemme where he worked and became manager of Central Iowa Telephone Company in 1942. They moved to Harris in 1956, and he continued working for the telephone company totaling 25 years. He served on the town council and served as president of the Community Club. Golda was office secretary for Dr. Carroll at Sibley, for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Keeping Up Club. The Jones´ were parents of three children.
