David Howes, Sr.
[1811] – June 1, 1895At the home of his son, David Howes, in Ellington, on Saturday, June 1, 1895, Mr. David Howes, Sr.; age 84 years.
Once more the angel of Death has taken from our midst one of the old settlers in Ellington. David Howes, Sr., who arrived at the ripe old age of four score years and four, answered the summons last Saturday morning about four o’clock.
Mr. Howes moved to Ellington, Iowa, about twenty-five years ago with his family of six children, Lewis, Edgar, James, Olive, Mary, and David M., who still survive to mourn the loss of their aged parent. Besides the children he leaves a loving wife who has shared the pleasures of his many years of wedded life and extended the sympathy and comfort that only a true and noble wife can to the last.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Marcy at the Center schoolhouse and the remains were interred in the Ellington Cemetery last Sunday afternoon.
