Paul Joseph Klemm
(January 3, 1939 - July 21, 2010)

Paul J. Klemm, age 71, of Scarville, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Paul Joseph Klemm was born on January 3, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Arthur Jack and Rose Alice (Swift) Klemm.

He attended and graduated from Garner High School in 1957. Following high school, Paul worked for the Iowa highway commission. In November of 1958, Paul entered the United States Army and served until he was honorably discharged in February of 1962.

He was united in marriage with Pamela Porter, who was pregnant at the time of her death in 1961. On July 23, 1980, Paul was united in marriage with Rosanne Hylland, and the couple was just shy of celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary.

Paul enjoyed keeping busy; he was a truck driver, an iron worker, and a registered nurse by profession. He also farmed trees, vegetables, and gardens. Paul loved his pets, and he traveled extensively throughout the United States. A member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, he attended while his health allowed.

He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife, Rosanne Klemm of Scarville, IA; mother, Rose Klemm of Garner, IA (currently residing at Westview Care Center in Britt); two step-sons, David (Marie) Nielsen of Ledyard, IA, and John (Rhonda) Nielsen of Lake Mills, IA; grandchildren, Ryan Jorgenson of Ledyard, IA, Brandy Jahnke of Lakota, IA, James (Brandy Simpson) Nielsen, Marie Nielsen, and Raymond Nielsen, all of Lake Mills, IA, and Emily Nielsen, Travis Nielsen , and Devlin Nielsen all of Webster City, IA; a brother, Bernard (Judy) Klemm of Forest City, IA; sister, Lori (Ron) Haugland of Carlsbad, CA; mother-in-law, Elna Hylland of Lake Mills, IA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his father; wife, Pamela and infant son; father-in-law, Raymond Hylland; and a step-son, George Nielsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, Iowa, with Father Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Garner, Iowa, with military honors conducted by the Garner VFW Post #5515.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
