Mason City, Iowa, January 9, 1954Goodell Farm Woman Dies; Rites Monday
Goodell-Funeral services for Mrs. Torkel Mehus, 58, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church west of Belmond. The Rev. O.M. Seversike of Belmond will officiate, with burial at St. Olaf's cemetery.
Olive Nelson was born in Norway, coming to America when a young woman. Soon after coming here she was married to Torkel Mehus and they farmed for a few years near Cornelia and the past 25 years farmed on the Lud Simmerson farm southwest of Goodell.
Survivors are her husband, six children, Mrs. M. Lonnvick (Mildred) of North Dakota; twins, Mrs. Roger Kimball (Nettie) of Clear Lake, Mrs. Jake Just (Nellie) of Belmond; Donald Mehus who farms near Belmond; Pearl, a senior in the Belmond High School and John in the eighth grade.
The Boone Funeral Home of Belmond was in charge.
