Isabel Stromer (October 9, 1921 - February 14, 2006)
GARNER Isabel Stromer, 84, of Garner died Tuesday (February 14, 2006) at the Concord Care Center, Garner. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner with Rev. Jeff DeBoer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Isabel Sophie Stromer, the daughter of William D. and Emma (Dreyer) Dohrman was born October 9, 1921 on a farm near Hampton. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1939. Isabel worked as a receptionist at the hospital in Marshalltown, at Damon’s Department Store in Mason City and also helped farmed with her parents on the family farm. On November 25, 1949, she was married to Harold Stromer at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Latimer. They farmed north of Klemme all of their married lives. Due to ill health she moved to Concord Care Center in July of 2000. She enjoyed her family, gardening and cooking. She was a member of Peace Reformed Church and Women’s Missionary Society. She was also a Cub Scout and 4-H leader.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Hanson (Dr. Clement) of Denver, CO and their children, Benjamin and Anne; her son, Dean Stromer (Debbie) of Klemme and their three children, Dan and his fiancée, Mindy Jenniges, Jessica and William and his wife, Mandy; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Dohrmann of Hampton and Ruby Stromer of Garner; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Stromer, September 12, 1987; a granddaughter, Grace Hanson, October 20, 1980; her parents; a sister, Ethel Dreyer; a brother, Willard Dohrmann and a brother-in-law, Walter Dreyer.
