Services held for Walter Blumer, 70

Funeral srevices for Walter Carl Blumer, 70, long-time Klemme area resident, who passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 1971, were held Saturday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. from the United Methodist church, Klemme, with Rev. George Brighton, officiating.
Mr. Blumer died at Midway Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Blumer had been visiting their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jacobs of St. Paul, when he became seriously ill.
Comfort in music was supplied by organist, Mrs. Robert Schulz, and the duet of Bill and Tom Renner, who sang "How Great Thou Art," and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". The pall bearers were, Don Bacon, Martin Karsjens, Virgil Waddingham, Ardell Waddingham, Harold Blumer and Bill Neuberger, Jr. He was laid to rest in the Klemme Cemetery. William-Andrew Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Blumer was born march 18, 1901, in Liberty township of Hancock County. He was the son of Jacob and Minnie Joers Blumer. He was orphaned at an early age, but remained with members of his family while growing up. He was raised and educated in the Klemme area except for the year 1917, when he completed eighth grade in Meservey.
On January 16, 1922, Mr. Blumer was united in marriage to May Neuberger in the Methodist parsonage in Garner. After marriage, the couple farmed near Klemme until their retirement, November 15, 1966, when they moved into Klemme. Mr. Blumer had been confirmed in the Klemme Reformed Church in 1915. After his marriage, he became a member of the United Methodist church in Klemme.
Surviving Mr. Blumer is his wife, May; three sons; Leo and Ivan of Omaha, Nebraska, and Glenn of St. Paul, Minnesota; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Margie) Willie of Klemme; Mrs. Luverne (Mary Ann)Schmidt of Garner; and Mrs. Cecil(Marlene) Jacobs of St. Paul, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, Emil and Jacob both of Garner and two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Lilly ) Baack of Concord Manor, Garner, and Mrs. John Lemke of the Americana Nursing Home in Mason City.
