Services for Mrs. Esther Lemke, 87, of Klemme, who died Saturday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 14, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with Rev. Herbert Shafer of the United Methodist Church in Klemme as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo served as organist and soloist.

Casket bearers were Raymond Schoenwetter, Roy Baack, Richard Baack, Curtis Waddingham, Arnett Waddingham, and Alvin Halverson. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation was at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Mrs Esther M. Lemke, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie (Juers) Blumer ws born January 10, 1899 on a farm in Liberty Township. After attending the rural school of Hancock County she worked as a telephone operator in Garner for a number of years.

November 26, 1919, she was married to John Lemke in Hancock County. They farmed near Klemme for 49 years. After her husband's death in 1968 she moved to Americana Healthcare Center in Mason City where she lived until her death on Saturday, Jan. 11.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and U.M.W. at Klemme and was a member of the American Legion Auxillary.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Malinda Blumer of Garner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; three sisters; Mrs. Lillie Baack, Minnie Blumer and Mrs. Anna Waddingham; and three brothers; Emil Blumer, Walter Blumer and Jacob Blumer.
