Zetta Lavina Young, daughter of William and Catherine Snyder was born November 29, 1906 at Bayard, Iowa and passed away at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa on January 15, 1980 at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 16 days.
Mrs. Young spent her childhood in Bayard and graduated from Bayard High School. In 1924 she was united in marriage with Clarence Black at Humboldt, Iowa and to this union six children were born. Following their marriage they lived at Renwick, Iowa and later moved to Rockwell City, Iowa.
She was united in marriage with Virgil Young in May of 1952 at Stratford, Iowa. They farmed in the Stratford area and later moved to Rockwell City for a brief time. They then moved to the Dallas Center area where they farmed for 12 years.
Following Mr. Young’s death in 1970, Zetta moved to Adel where she made her home.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Virgil and on daughter Margaret.
She is survived by four daughters Donnabelle Barber of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kathryn Lee of High Point, North Carolina, Harriett Becker of Waukee, Iowa and Jerilyn Staats of Running Springs, California, one son, Clarence Black of upland, California, fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, at the Morton Funeral Home, at Rockwell City, Iowa, with Rev. Wilbur Cornman officiating. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, Iowa.
