STRATFORD - Wallace Eric Young, 78, Stratford, died at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines Tuesday.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Stratford Baptist church with the Rev. Ronald F. Skoog and the Rev. Dale Kelley officiating. Burial will be made in the Oakwood cemetery north of Stratford.
Friends may call at the Hanson-Stark-Welin funeral home in Stratford Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m. and on Friday 9 to 11 a.m. when the casket will be taken to the church.
Wallace Eric Young was born Feb. 2, 1897 at Stratford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas [Hilda Christina Bocklund] Young.
On June 21, 1942, he was married to Fay E. Routt, at Bethany, Mo., and he had farmed in the Stratford community all his life.
He was a member of the Stratford Baptist Church, and the Masonic Lodge 601, AF and AM, Acorn chapter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife; one step-daughter and her husband, Beverly and Howard Roberts of Des Moines; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Floyd, Art and Oscar, all of Stratford; two sisters, Dora Simonson of Stratford and Bernice Compan of California.
[I'm not sure where the 'Routt' surname comes in..there is no mention in her obituary that she was married before or after Wallace Eric Young; she was the daughter of Robert and Henrietta Sheets Jopling]
