November 24, 1924MISS SARA WILLIAMS POPULAR STRATFORD LADY PASSES AWAY
Last Saturday evening our community was wrapped in mourning in a moments time when the sad news was flashed over the wire that Miss Sara Williams had passed away.
She was sick but two days, when an operation was decided on as the only help or hope. But this was futile and she passed to her reward Saturday evening, November 19.
Sara Elizabeth Williams was born near Sheridan, Illinois, June 24, 1879, being thus 40 years, 4 months and 25 days old. In 1903 she with her sisters came to Stratford where they have since made their home. She was a graduate of Pleasant View College, Ottawa, Ills. In music she finished the Public School Supervision Course at Simpson College at Indianola and also was a graduate of the conservatory of music at Drake University, Des Moines.
Since she has devoted most of her time to teaching music in the public school. This year she held such a position in St. Paul, Minn., where she passed away.
She was reared in a Christian home and in early life consecrated herself to a Christian life and became a member of the M.E. Church in Stratford of which she was a faithful member till life's close. She was a willing worker in all church activities and work for the community good doing her part always cheerfully. Always conscientious in heart she tried to manifest a spirit of kindness and love to everybody.
Although a life enduring great hardships and sufferings at times, yet hers was a life of sunshine. Bearing her suffering bravely until her frail form could no longer resist her soul passed to its reward. She lived a beautiful Christian life and her memory will live on.
