Minnie Williams, 95, a former Stratford resident, died Monday, March 16 at the Adel Acres Care Center in Adel. She was born November 15, 1885 in Norway, Ill., the daughter of William and Cecelia Williams.
Miss Williams was a graduate of Drake University and taught in the Stratford School and served as assistant postmistress until her retirement. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Avon Chapter and the Stratford Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, two brothers and a step-brother.
Survivors include nieces, Mrs. Fern Chapman of Adel, Mrs. Sylvella Jacobsen of Iowa City, Mrs. Herschel Williams of Story City, Mrs. Melvin Thurow of Rockwell City, and Mrs. Clifford Swedlund of Fort Dodge; a number of cousins and great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m., at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford with Rev. Richard Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon.
