June 19, 1924CHAS. WALKER PASSED AWAY SUNDAY AFTER A LINGERING ILLNESS
After a long and lingering illness, Charles Walker passed away here at the Olof Ferlen home Sunday. He had been ill for months and last spring went to the Mayo hospital in Rochester, Minn., for an examination and operation and it was found that he was suffering with cancer. Since then he has been hovering between life and death at the Ferlen home here.
Charles Walker was born near Harrisburg, Penn., March 5, 1865 and died June 15, 1924, at the age of 59 years, 3 months, 10 days. When a year old he moved with his parents to Brookville, Ills., and spent his boyhood days there. Later he moved to Sterling, Ills., and then to Perry, Iowa, living at the later place for some time and then moving to Stratford. Here he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Ferlen, June 16, 1916, and after living at Baker, Mont., they moved to Reeder, N.D., which was their present home.
Besides his bereaved and saddened wife he leaves four sons and two daughters to mourn his death. They are: John of Berkley; Walter of Dubuque; Mildred Mellot of Newton; Helen Roberts of Berkley; Lloyd of Newton and Lowell of Berkley. A son died in infancy.
Funeral services were held from the Ferlen home Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. Carl Hammer and the remains were interred in Oakwood cemetery.Card of Thanks
