February 17, 1941Funeral services for Mrs. J.S. Hutchings was held in the Calvary Methodist church Thursday afternoon, Jan. 30. Dr. J.J. Davies, district superintendent of the Fort Dodge district of the Northwest Iowa conference, was in charge and was assisted by the Rev. C.S. Ericson, pastor of the local Lutheran church, who read the scripture lesson, and the Rev. J.J. Share, Webster City Methodist pastor, who led in prayer. The funeral sermon was preached by Dr. Davies. Mesdames Florence Peterson, Lester Carlson, Harold Bass and Miss Minnie Williams sang "Still, Still With Thee," and "The Homeland," Mrs. F.W. Miller playing the accompaniments. Members of the Avon chapter No. 504, O.E.S. gave their beautiful ritual service as the closing part of the obsequies. Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery, the casket bearers being Dr. H.W. Krieger, Sanford Johnson, Reuben Erickson and three of the pastors from the Northwest Iowa conference of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Hutchings, wife of the Rev. J.S. Hutchings of Calvary Methodist church, had been in poor health for some time before her death. She had made many friends during the residence here of the family all of whom extend sincere sympathy to the surviving husband.
[her husband was Joseph Scott Hutchings, they were married in 1914, according to Find A Grave he is buried in the Belmond Cemetery, Belmond, Iowa]
