Mrs. Emma Lovisa Hedlund passed away at her home in Stratford Thursday morning, January 14, 1915, after an illness of nearly ten years, she being confined to her bed the last sixteen months of her life. She was born May 16, 1S54, in Bjorkespang, Kalmar lan, Sweden, and at the time of her death was 60 years, 7 months and 28 days of age. She emigrated to America and settled at Stratford in 1901, and entered into membership with the Stratford Lutheran church the same year. She leaves to mourn her departure six children, two daughters and four sons, three sisters and her aged mother in Sweden; one sister, Mrs. N. P. Wistrand, of Washington, formerly of Stratford, her father and one brother having preceded her to the land beyond.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the residence and at the Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Callerstrom. A large crowd of friends were present to pay their last respects to their departed friend. Mrs. Hedlund had been an invalid for some time, but having accepted salvation through Jesus Christ she looked forward with glad anticipation to the time when she should be called to receive her inheritance in the land where there shall be no more pain, no more death and no more sorrow. The remains were interred in the Oakwood cemetery.
