NORM LAKIN PASSES AWAY
Norman Lakin was born on the old Lakin Homestead, March 27th, 1857 and died at his home April 22, 1920, at the age of 63 years and 26 days, at Ellsworth where he has resided during the past 30 years.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Lakin, being the second child of a family of sixteen children, his mother, father, two sisters and one brother having preceded him to the Great Beyond.
The early days of his life were spent on the Iowa prairies herding cattle with his father. The later years were spent buying and selling cattle.
He was married to Miss Evva Green May 13, 1884. To this union two daughters were born, Mrs. David Ritchie of Jewell, and Mrs. Otto Christensen, of Ellsworth. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two daughters and eleven grandchildren, six sisters and six brothers, namely: Mrs. M. G. Igou, of Colorado; Mrs. P. E. Ryberg and Mrs. W. D. Binbridge, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. W. A. Loder, of Jewell; Mrs. B. M. Granby, Miss Dolly, Noah, Will, Gustavis, Harry and Fred, of Ellsworth; and Jess, of Fonda, Iowa.
Mr. Laken or "Norm" as he was called by all friends and acquaintances was well and favorably known throughout the county as a very kind and congenial man always having a smile and pleasant greeting for everyone. He will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends, as well as the family who have the sympathy of the entire community.
