OBITUARY
MRS. HANS C. OMVIG
Mary Severson Omvig, daughter of Knute and Anna Severson , was born on the Severson homestead south of Ellsworth on May 20, 1880, and passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, on July 6, 1939, aged 59 years, two months and four days.
She attended Scott Center school as a girl and moved to Ellsworth with her mother and other members of the family in 1896, the father having passed away in 1892.
She was married to Hans C. Omvig April 5, 1911. For two years they lived in Story City, following which they lived in Ellsworth until 1917, when they moved to Des Moines, where they had since made their home.
Mrs. Omvig was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church in Ellsworth and later of Central Lutheran church in Des Moines. She was a splendid wife and sister, and almost a mother to her nieces and nephews who were with her so much. She will be greatly missed by members of her family and a large circle of friends.
She is survived by one sister, Julia Severson of Ellsworth, and three brothers, H. K., Martin and Sam Severson of Ellsworth. Her sister Jane passed away in 1920, her brother Severt in 1935, her mother in 1937, and her sister Anna (Mrs. Randolph Kallem) in 1938.
Funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Story City on Saturday, July 8, with Rev. T. T. Heimarck officiating, and interment was made in Fairview cemetery in Story City. At the service Gladys Torjussen of Story City sang "God Will Take Care of You," and the congregation sang an opening and closing number.
The casketbearers were nephews of the deceased: Clifford Sorenson and Lawrence Omvig of Story City, Harry Sorenson of Clarion, and Harlan Severson, Kenneth Severson and Curtis Kallem of Ellsworth.
