OBITUARY

Mrs. A. G. Anfinson

Elizabeth Opstvedt was born in Norway, Europe, April 2, 1855, and died April 25, 1919, at the age of 64 years and 23 days. She left Norway with her parents at the age of six months and emigrated to America, coming to Illinois. She lived there six years, then her parents came to Iowa and settle near Roland. In the year 1874 she was united in marriage to Anfin G. Anfinson. To this union was born ten children, three of whom preceded her to the better land, one dying an infant; Oliver, who was killed by an accident in Canada in 1909, and George, who also died in Canada in 1913. Those who survive are Henry, Oscar and Andrew of Dilke, Canada; Mrs. A. M. Sorenson of Holdfast, Canada, Mrs. C. J. Kirkeby of Decorah, Ia., Benard and Bertha, who are at home. She is also survived by three brothers Tom, Sam and John Opstvedt, and 18 grandchildren. Her husband died 9 months ago. She had been a sufferer for almost two years from anemia. The funeral was held from the north St. Petri church on Tuesday, April 29, Rev. Guttebo officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Mamrelund cemetery. Many came in spite of the bad weather and roads to pay their last respects at the funeral and the floral tributes were large and beautiful.
