William A. Neese

William Albert Neese, the oldest child of W. C. and Mary Neese was born March 27, 1872, on the farm home near Stratford where he grew to manhood. He received his schooling in Stratford and Sioux City, graduating from Morningside college.

He moved to the southern part of Ringgold county in 1894, where he assisted his father with farm duties. On March 18, 1896, he was united in marriage to Sarah Luella Linn, and five children blessed this union. The family spent a number of years in southern Iowa, moving to Hebron, Mo., in 1907.

In 1927 the family came back to Stratford where Mr. Neese resided until his death. He was taken ill Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday was rushed to Mercy hospital in Webster City, where he was operated on for gallstones. All that medical care and loving hands could do was to no avail. He died Wednesday, May 29.

He leaves a grief stricken wife, two daughters Mrs. Howard Austin [should be Augustine] of Orient and Mrs. Glenn Westrum; three sons, Roy of Stanhope, Melvin and Van Neese; also an aged father, two sisters, Sadie and Mrs. C. O. Robertson, two grandchildren, besides hosts of relatives and friends.

Mr. Neese was a member of the Christian church. He was a loving and patient husband and father, always willing to sacrifice joy and pleasures of life. He was always cheerful and happy, and infused his friends and associates with his good nature.
