Death of T. G. Pederson

Torbjorn Grindheim Pederson was born in Etna, Norway, July 7, 1851, and died at his home in Randall on Friday evening, Dec. 3, 1926, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 28 days. He was married to Ellen John Moe in 1881, and they immigrated to America the same year, settling at Morris, Ill., where they lived six years.

In 1887 they oved to Hamilton county, Iowa, settled at Randall, where he with his family, have made their home ever since. To this union eight children were born: Henry, who died in infancy, Peter G. Pederson, Anna, Julia and Rachel Pederson and Mrs. Ole Sopeland of Randall, John Pederson of Boone, Thomas Pederson of Eagle Grove. His wife preceded him in death some years ago. he also leaves on brother, Henry G. Pederson of Randall, who was a great help and comfort to him during his five weeks illness with a heart attack. He also leaves two brothers and one sister living in Norway; also twelve grandchildren.

In the presence of his children, brother and pastor, he passed from this life to his home in Heaven, as in their midst he had made his peace with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

For many years Mr. Pederson owned and operated a blacksmith shop at Randall, but the latter years of his life he contracted and moved houses and he was known over quite a territory in this profession. For 33 years Mr. Pederson had been a faithful member of the Elim church. He was a member of the school board but resigned from this position in the spring of 1926. He had in many ways been a great help to the school. He was always a kind friend and neighbor to those about him and he will be greatly missed in the family and the community.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon Dec. 6th, at 1:30, at the Elim church at 2:00 at which Rev. Paulsrud in Norwegian, and Revs. Sjastveit of Eagle Grove and L. A. Pierson of Ames officiated in English. Many sorrowing friends and relatives were in attendance at the last sad rites. Many beautiful flowers adorned the casket as an expression of deep sympathy in thsi hour of sorrow. Miss Halderson sand a beautiful solo. The rest of the singing was furnished by the choir. The pallbearers were Dr. Willson, Morton Haoveland, S. M. Teigland, P. J. Okland, Selmer Stevenson and Severin Tjentland. Honor bearers: H. B. hanson, J. P. Anderson, S. J. Larson, M. L. Henderson, L. A. Gere, M. M. Teigland Sr., John Sparboe, J. K. Johnson.

A large concourse of people assembled to pay the last respects to an honored neighbor and good friend. The remains were laid the rest in the Mount Olive cemetery.

The children from out of town were all present at the funeral.
