Obituary

Ole Simonson was born in Alten Bosekop, West Finmarken, Denmark, June 21, 1840, and died at his home in Randall May 20, 1823 lacking one month of being 83 years old. The 12th of October, 1860, he was united in marriage to Kathrina Isaacson, Rev. C. Rall officiating. He came to America in 1868 and took up his home in Calument, Mich. Here he resided 19 years, after which he came to Hamilton county, Iowa, settling on a farm 2 miles north of Randall.

Twenty years ago he moved to Randall where he has lived since. In 1922 he joined the Elims Lutheran Church, where he has been a faithful member ever since. Since the death of his beloved wife last October his health has been failing and it soon became apparent that his days were numbered, and last Sunday he slumbered silently in arms of Jesus. He was the father of 11 children, of whom four are gone before him. Those who live to mourn his departure are, namely: Mrs. Anna Hagen of Shell Lake, Wis.; Simon Simonson of Calumet, Mish.; Mrs. Cathrina Prescott of Popejoy; Mrs. Mary Prescott of Roland; Mrs. Louise Osam of Ames; Carl Simonson of Albuquerque, N. Mex., and Elmer Simonson of Seattle, Wash., and 30 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 23, conducted at the home at 1:30 o'clock and at 2:00 o'clock at Elim Lutheran Church by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud. The burial was made in the Mamrelund cemetery east of town. The pall bearers were his grandsons Carl Prescott, Otis Prescott, Elmer Prescott, Marion Prescott, Lyman Osam and Clifford Osam. The sympathy of their many friends in Randall and vicinity is extended to the children in their hour of sorrow.
