Vera Oskvig, 93, of Williams, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27th at the Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams with burial to follow in the Williams cemetery.

Vera Mildred Oskvig was born on May 2, 1925 in Iowa Falls to Harvey and Eva (Bryant) Shillington. She graduated from Owasa High School and Ellsworth Community College. On February 23, 1947 Vera was united in marriage to Melvin Oskvig in the First Christian Church in Iowa Falls. Vera met her husband when she went to pick up her brother Merle from the train station and Merle offered to give his fellow soldier, Melvin, a ride home.

Vera loved God, her family and friends. She had a love of baking and cooking and made every holiday and family gathering special. There was always room for one more at any meal.

She also cherished the Harmony Club, her church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Iowa Falls.

Vera is survived by her children, Roger (Melissa) Oskvig of Pittsford, NY, Dean (Tammy) Oskvig of Leawood, KS, Allen (Barb) Oskvig of Williams, Iowa, Arlene (Dale) Blue of Webster City, Iowa and Michael (Jessica) Oskvig of Gardner, KS; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Carroll, Merle, Dale and Richard and siblings in infancy Willis and Sharon.
