Eugene Foval Obituary
1920-2011

Eugene B. Foval (Gene), 90, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2011, in Peoria, Arizona.

Born November 20, 1920, to Herbert and Stella Foval in Jewell, he was raised on the family farm near Ellsworth with three sisters, Bernice Hauck, Ruth Stoner, and Virginia "Zoe" Rierson. They attended Ellsworth Public School, where Gene was an accomplished athlete.

Gene married Ila Jean Flynn (Jeanie) of Boone, had two children, Sherry and Jerry; and farmed near Ellsworth for more than twenty years. Gene and Jeanie then owned and operated Garner Farm Supply, the "A & W Root Beer Drive-In" restaurant in Garner, and Gene was a salesman for Kruger Seed Company.

They both were active in the Ellsworth and Garner Methodist churches. Gene was a fifty-year Mason and served as Worshipful Master of the Jewell Masonic Lodge.

They retired to Mission, Texas, in the mid-1980s, and in 2006 moved to Peoria, Arizona, to live closer to family. Gene is survived by his sister, Virginia Zoe Rierson of Radcliffe, and sister-in-law Margaret Ewing, of Ames; children Sherry Foval Ramsey and Jerry Foval and their respective spouses, six grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren.

A private family gathering to honor Gene and Jeanie Foval's life together is pending, following their last wishes. Memorials are requested to be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, Arizona 85014.
