STORY CITY — Lois Jean Hove, 90, of Story City, passed away May 11, 2023, at Bethany Life in Story City. A Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, May 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. The burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery near Stanhope. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.

Lois Jean (Okland) Hove was born to John and Edith Okland on June 11, 1932. in Ames, Iowa. She grew up on a farm southeast of Kelley, Iowa. Lois was baptized and confirmed at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. She attended her first school in Kelley and was transferred to Huxley, Iowa, in 1948, graduating in 1950.

On November 21, 1953, Lois married Gordon Hove of Stanhope, Iowa. They farmed in the Stanhope area until their retirement, then moved to Mesa, Arizona. In 2010, they moved to Story City, Iowa, into the Scandia West Condo.

Left to cherish her memory are sons, Gary (Roxie) Hove of Randall and Randy (Marcia) Hove of Jewell; grandchildren, Amy Hove Stoermer of Ankeny, Tracy Hove of Story City, Brandon (Abby) Hove of Lisbon and Garrett (Kelsee) Hove of West Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Keatyn Brandner, Ashlyn, Halle and Piper Stoermer, Gavin, Fletcher, Bowen and Ezra Hove, and Baker and Graham Hove; sister-in-law, Margaret Okland and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in November of 2010, her parents, four brothers, Kenneth, Marlowe, Stanley, and Leo Okland; a sister, Dorothy Burger, and two sisters-in-law, Carol Okland and Norma Okland, and two nieces.

The family would like to thank Bethany Life in Story City and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care that they gave to Lois the past few months.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
