Sterling A. Isvik, 98, of Webster City, formerly of Kamrar, passed away Wednesday, April 12, at Southfield Wellness Community. Per his wishes, there will not be a funeral service, but a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Following the graveside service there will be a time of fellowship and a light lunch held at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.

Sterling Arthur Isvik was born October 12, 1924, in Hamilton Co. He was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church west of Jewell and was a lifetime member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Jewell. Sterling graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1943 and served two years in the Army during WWII. Sterling married LeNora Jean Arnold on February 25th, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, and over the years attended many reunions there. Sterling loved the land and farmed until retiring in 1996 at the age of 70. He lived on the same farm for 72 years from 1947 until 2019. He loved his livestock and during those years fed cattle and hogs. As he was able, after retiring, he continued to work part time for Barry Klaver. For 23 years, Sterling and LeNora spent winters at Leisure World in Weslaco, Texas. In October of 2019, Sterling moved to the Southfield Assisted Living, and most recently resided in the Southfield Wellness Center. The only complaint he had about Southfield was they fed him too much! Sterling was a charter member of the Kamrar Lions, where he was very active, served many years on the Hamilton Co. Fair Board, was a board member of the Kamrar Farmer’s Coop, a member of the American Legion in Webster City, an honorary Chapter Farmer of the South Hamilton FFA, and a member of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau. Sterling loved family events, was an avid card player, and enjoyed travelling. He especially enjoyed travelling to Washington DC on an Iowa Honor Flight for WWII veterans.

He is survived by his son, Stanley, (Sheri), Garner, granddaughter, Erin Flage (Jamie Ubben), Aplington, step grandchildren Heather (Lance) Astleford, Lanesboro, Clint Weaver and Hayley Weaver of Garner, great grandchildren Spencer Isvik, William Flage, and Genevieve Ubben of Aplington, and step grandchildren, Sarah Michele (Chase) Ulven, of Klemme, Buck Weaver of Evanston, WY and Jake Atencio, Rochester, MN, sister-in laws Pat Arnold of Stratford, Becke Arnold of Marshalltown, a special friend, Marlene Wiese and many nieces and nephews.

Sterling was preceded in death by his parents, wife LeNora, siblings Betty (Robert) Sharer, Arling (Beverly) Isvik, Donald (Winifred) Isvik, Shirley (John) Wilkerson, Angelene (Melvin) Melling, two infant brothers, in laws Ferne and Devon Deakman, Francis and Lillian Shields, Bernard and Jerri Arnold, Norman Arnold and Gary and Josephine Arnold and two step-great-grandchildren, Evan Grabko and Phoenix Weaver.

Sterling’s family would like to thank the staff of the Southfield Wellness Community for the wonderful care they gave Sterling. Sterling very much enjoyed the activities–never missing Bingo and cards! He also enjoyed joking with all those who cared for him!
