A dispatch was received yesterday by Mrs. Harriet Closz telling of the death of her niece, Mrs. Carroll Meeks Johnston, of Marshalltown, on Sunday. Mrs. Johnston had been seriously ill for months, but made a visit to this city this summer to see her grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Brewer Bonebright, and other relatives. She leaves beside her father and husband, a little son four years of age. Carroll Meeks was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Meeks and was born in this city, where she attended the public schools until young womanhood. Her mother preceded her in death a few years ago. Her aunt, Mrs. Closz, went to Marshalltown this morning where the funeral services were held this afternoon.
