Galatea Jenkinson, daughter of Jesse and Mary Funk Jenkinson, was born Nov. 23, 1853 in Philadelphia, Pa. Left without a mother at the age of seven years, she was tenderly reared in the family of her aunt, Margaret Funk Entriken, with whom she came to Iowa in 1872.

She was united in marriage to Henry R. Dodge in Webster City in 1875 and to this union were born eight children, five of them preceding her in death; Acis, 5, Almon, 3; Earl, 6 months, a daughter, Emma, died in 1910 at the age of 19 years and a son, Warren B., died Feb. 6, 1935.

She leaves to mourn her death three children, Mrs. C.O. Barr and John F. Dodge of this city and Byard A. Dodge of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Eugenia Dodge, daughter of Mrs. Warren Dodge, and Dickie, Harriet and Maryon, children of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Dodge.

Mrs. Dodge, when coming to Webster City, brought her letter from the Hepzibah Baptist church in Pennsylvania, and she joined the First Baptist church in this city, of which she has been a faithful member. As long as she was able she took an active part in all of the organizations of the church, and was treasurer of the Ladies Aid for 33 years. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge.

Mrs. Dodge was a fine type of woman, gentle and kind and thoughtful of the happiness of her family and friends. For months she was sorely afflicted but never uttered words of complain, bearing her burdens with fortitude and Christian resignation.

For years her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. Barr, made their home with her, and cared for her with loving kindness and did everything possible to render her months of suffering free from pain. She leaves as a heritage to her family and friends the memory of a well rounded life, devoted to doing good in the world.
