Grace Isvik, 90, Bethany Manor, Story City, died Friday, June 9 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held this morning, Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, Rev. James Cherry officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell.

Grace Ubben, daughter of Ben and Engelena Barth Ubben, was born May 5, 1899 on a farm near Kamrar. She attended Liberty Center schools. She married Alfred Isvik on Feb. 1, 1923, and the couple lived on farms near Jewell, Kamrar and Williams, before moving to a farm near Ellsworth in 1936. Mrs. Isvik was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 17, 1950 and she continued to live on the farm until she entered Bethany Manor in 1983.

She is survived by her children, Sterling Isvik, Kamrar; Arling Isvik, Jewell; Donald Isvik, Webster City; Betty Sharer, Jewell; Shirley Wilkerson, Torrance, Calif.; Angelene Meling, Story City; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers, Katie Seiser and Ricksta Davis, both of Webster City; Elsie Maples, Stanhope; Minnie Larson, Godell; and Edward Ubben and Melvin Ubben, both of Williams.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sons Arlie and Ronald in infancy; four brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Isvik was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Jewell, and was a longtime member of the ALCW.
