Truman N. Twedt, the son of Ingvold and Nora (Swenson) Twedt was born April 21, 1923 near Ellsworth, Iowa. He grew up in the Ellsworth area graduating from Ellsworth High School. Truman served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in 1945 and 1946, stationed in Texas, the Philippines and Korea. Truman was united in marriage to Ila Ann Trampel on May 9, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He farmed in the Ellsworth/Williams area until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth and the American Legion. During his retirement years, he found great satisfaction doing his woodworking projects. He created delightful gifts and remembrances for many. Until the last few years of declining health his retirement consisted of long days helping on the family farm. He was a natural born mechanic and inventor.

Truman was called home on Thursday, July 13, 2006 from the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Truman is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ila Twedt of Radcliffe, one son, Craig and wife Candace Twedt of Williams, two grandsons, Dr. Tru Twedt of Athens, Georgia (Amanda), Travis Twedt of Jewell (Tatiana), three great-grandsons, Triston, Treyton and Tiago Twedt of Jewell, one brother Virgil (Doris) Twedt of Ellsworth, two sisters, Loa Dell (Merle) Tonderum of Dows and Ruth (Lawrence) Olson of Ellsworth, along with other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ronald, and a sister Marjorie Evans Magar.

Truman was known for his unassuming ways and a gentle quiet spirit. He was adored by his family and will be greatly missed.

Services were held July 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Burial was in Radcliffe Cemetery. Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe had charge of arrangements.
