Mrs. John S. Stanger, 77, longtime Webster City resident, died at 12:05 this morning at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient the past eight days.

She had been in ill health the past three years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. R.D. Kitterman officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Leona Elizabeth Dingman, daughter of Isaac and Sarah Dingman, was born Jan. 27, 1884 on a farm in the Homer community and was reared and educated in the Homer vicinity.

She was united in marriage Dec. 24, 1902 to John S. Stanger and for several years Mr. and Mrs. Stanger resided in Boone. They then moved to Webster City where Mr. Stanger was employed for many years as custodian at the Kendall Young library.

She is survived by one son and one daughter, John Lawrence Stanger and Mrs. Glenn (Alice) Fortune, both of Webster City, two grandsons, Leonard and James Fortune, both of this city, three great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Albert Dingman and William Dingman, both of Webster City, Joe Dingman of Redwood City, Calif., and Mrs. Belva Noe, Northwood, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 24, 1950, by her parents and four sisters.

Mrs. Stanger joined the Methodist church at Homer when she was a young girl, later transferring her membership to the Webster City church.
