Funeral services for Minnie Bates, 93, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Cass Center Cemetery. Public Rebekah Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the Foster Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A longtime Webster City resident, Mrs. Bates died Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Hamilton County Hospital.

Minnie Stoppelmoor, daughter of Walter and Maria Hayden Stoppelmoor, was born July 10, 1893 in Grundy County. At age 14, she moved with her family to Hamilton County, attending country schools.

She married Earl Sidney Bates on June 30, 1915. The couple lived at Highmore, S.D. for 8 years before moving to Hamilton County where they farmed until 1928. They then moved to Webster City where Mr. Bates was employed at the McCollough Manufacturing Co., and later at Earl May Company. Following his death in 1966, she continued to reside in Webster City.

Survivors are three daughters, Jennie Boehme of Webster City, Myrtle Ledford of Monta Vista, Calif., Irene (Mrs. Kenneth) Claude, Nampa, Idaho; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Hannah (Mrs. Jake) Tapper, Webster City, Ruth Myers of Kenniwick, Wash., and Maria Pruismann of Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one daughter, four grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Senior Citizens, Women's Relief Corps, Rebekah Lodge No. 72, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, and Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant.
