Richard M. Wayman, age 81 of Mapleton, MN., died Sunday, February 13, 2005. Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the United Church of Mapleton. Burial is in Union Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation is Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. at Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton and resumes at the church, one hour before the funeral.

Richard Mack was born on July 14, 1923 to Amos Jay and Martha "Mattie" (Davis) Wayman in Webster City, Iowa where he grew up on their livestock and dairy farm. A Class of 1943 graduate of the Webster City High School, he joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1945 to 1953. On June 1, 1947 he married Adele Elda Warren in El Paso, TX. Richard returned to Webster City for a time before coming to Mapleton where he worked as a custodian for the school system. In 1978, he and Adele moved to Arkansas where he continued working as a custodian, first for a school district and later for a church. They returned to Mapleton in 1998.

Richard Wayman is survived by three sons, Michael (Mary) and Richard W., all of Mankato, MN., and Alan, of Ellsworth, WI, four daughters, Linda Hicks (Jim) of Mapleton, MN, Phyllis Roushar (Tom) of Prior Lake, MN, Barbara Jones (Evan) of Waterville,, MN and Diane Larson (special friend Tom O'Reilly) of Blue Earth, MN, 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife on May 20, 2002, six sisters, and great-granddaughter Madison Jean Rappe.
