Robert Murphy, 84, Webster City, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at Hamilton Hospital. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Rev. John Flaherty officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral Home.

Robert Michael Murphy, son of Francis and Margaret (Logan) Murphy, was born Sept. 1, 1919 on a farm north of Williams. He received his education at Williams, graduating in 1936.

On April 9, 1942 he married Helen Arlene Albers at Iowa Falls. The couple farmed north of Williams. In 1957, the family moved to Webster City. He operated the Farmers Feed Store for four years. He also worked as a carpenter in construction in the Webster City area. He retired in 1981.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Helen; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marjorie Murphy of Webster City, daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Gene Carbone of Los Angeles, Ca., Mary and Lynn Crystal, Jean and Kurt Miller, all of Webster City; 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Carl Burgin of Centerville, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Alcoholics Anonymous and the Webster City Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
