Dean D. Nelson, 84, of Mason City, formerly of Stanhope, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 E. State Street, Mason City, with Rev. Paul D. Finger officiating. Burial will be at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Stanhope, where military honors will be conducted by members of American Legion Post #191, Webster City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City and one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.

He is survived by his wife Doris [Whaley] Nelson, Mason City; a daughter, Debra Novak and her husband Ron, Forest City; a son, Brandon Nelson, Lake Mills; a brother, Wayne Nelson and his wife Jan, Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents {Iver & Inger Nelson], one sister and six brothers.
