Calvin G. Hoover, 76, Fort Dodge, formerly of Duncombe, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. at the church on Tuesday. Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Calvin George Hoover was born July 6, 1927 on the family farm near Duncombe, the son of Frank and Sophie Ostlund Hoover. He attended rural country school near Duncombe and Webster City schools. Calvin joined the United States Navy in 1944, serving as a Navy Seabee in Guam. On April 25, 1948 Calvin married Carrie Kiesecker at Ames. Calvin ran a farm drainage business for awhile and then farmed in the Duncombe area until 1991, when he retired and they moved to Fort Dodge. Calvin and Carrie wintered in Ft. Meyers Beach, Fla. for over 25 years.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, the National Farmers Organization and was an avid golfer.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carrie of Fort Dodge, two daughters, Renae Worrell and husband Tim of Kingsley, and Patty Nelson and husband Ric of Fort Dodge, two sons, Galen Hoover and wife Diane of Duncombe, and Bill Hoover and wife Sheree of Duncombe; ten grandchildren, Todd, Karri, Emily, Jenny, Andy, Tony, Jodi, Chris, Sarah and Tiffany; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Doris McCormick of Ames. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joan Knudsen.
