James E. "Turk" Burnett, 58, of East Highway 20 in Webster City, died Thursday morning at the Hamilton County Public Hospital.

Services for Mr. Burnett will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Laufersweiler-Hall Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Friday. The casket will be taken to the church after noon Saturday.

James E. Burnett was born Aug. 29, 1922 at Olena, Kan., the son of Ernest and Bessie Saunders Burnett. His family moved to Webster City when he was a child and he attended the Webster City schools. He entered the United States Army while he was attending junior college here and after World War II he returned to Webster City where he was employed by the Railroad Express.

He was married to Ann Cunningham June 19, 1948 and started employment with the Franklin Manufacturing Company where he remained for 31 years. He retired in November of 1980 for health reasons.

He is survived by his wife and four sons, Jim Jr. of Webster City, John of Sanger, Calif., Steve of Minot, N.D., and the Rev. Dave of Onawa; his mother, Bessie of Webster City; three brothers, Duane of Marshalltown, Loren of Kansas City, Mo., and Dean of Dubuque; two sisters, Litta (Mrs. Merle) Harris of Boone and Delores (Mrs. Stanley) Sneed of Liscomb; and six grandchildren.
