Charles Peter (Chuck) Becker, 76, of St. Joseph, IA, formerly of Webster City and Stratford, died February 16, 2023, at home with family. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 23rd at Divine Mercy Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe, with Father Merle Kollasch officiating. Visitation will be at the church on February 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 4 p.m. and Divine Mercy Chaplet at 7:30 p.m. [DFJ February 21, 2023 - Services have been changed to 10:30 a.m. Wed. March 1st at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. Visitation has been changed to Tues. Feb. 28th 4-8 p.m. at the church, with a 4 p.m. Rosary and 7:30 p.m. Chaplet Service]

Chuck, son of Peter and Bertha (Thul) Becker, was born November 20, 1946, in Algona. He graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1965 and from Eagle Grove Community College in 1967 where he was a guard on the basketball team. Chuck married Mary Thompson in 1969. After his graduation from Wayne State College in 1969 with a degree in mathematics, they moved to Jamaica, IA, where Chuck taught high school math and coached boys’ basketball and girls’ track.

In 1972, the family moved to Webster City where Chuck worked as Safety Director for Maudlin’s Construction Company. In 1983, he started C&M Sand and Gravel, based in Stratford, with his partner, Mike Nepereny. C&M later became Becker Gravel and eventually Stratford Gravel. Chuck sold the business in 2015 to his daughter, Monica Becker, Patrick Nepereny, and James Frank.

On Christmas Day in 1998, Chuck married Liz Lichter, and they made their home on an acreage outside of Stratford until moving to St. Joe in 2020. They enjoyed country dancing, travelling the U.S. in their motorhome, spending winters in Naples, FL, watching movies at home, attending events for their grandkids, fishing, and spending time with family in the great outdoors.

A loving spouse, parent, grandparent, and friend, Chuck will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Liz; his children: Monica Becker of Stratford, Dan (Rhonda) Becker of Shakopee, MN, and Laura (Kelly) Schafer of St. Joseph, IA; his grandchildren: Jayda Becker, Ryan Becker, Clara Schafer, and Henry Schafer; his brothers: Allan Becker of St. Joseph, and Jim Becker of Naples, FL; and his beloved canine companion, Rosie. He joins his parents, brothers Maurice and Art, and generations of family in eternal peace and joy with Christ.
