Jesse E. Berhow, 49, of Stratford, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, in Jewell, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2022, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Alaire Willits will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Burial will be at South Marion Cemetery, rural Stratford. Jesse Eugene Berhow was born on February 22, 1973, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Eugene “Hoot” and Rhonda (Wright) Berhow. He graduated with the South Hamilton High School class of 1992.

Jesse was married to Stacy Byrne from 1996 to 1999.

On June 21, 2003, Jesse was united in marriage to Jaclyn Angstrom at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford.

Jesse and Jaclyn established their home in Stratford. Jesse previously worked as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad and was currently employed as a heavy equipment operator for Hamilton County Secondary Roads.

Jesse enjoyed playing in pool and dart leagues, riding side x sides, hunting and fishing, kayaking, and any activities that included family & close friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jaclyn Berhow of Stratford, IA; children, Chase (Carlee) Berhow of Webster City, IA, Braden, Brock, and Brooklyn Berhow of Stratford, IA; parents, Eugene “Hoot” and Rhonda Berhow of Britt, IA; his brother, Jamie Berhow of Britt, IA; his in-laws, Craig and Pat Angstrom of Stratford, IA; sisters-in-law, Tessa Angstrom (Scott) of Stratford, IA, Nichole (Steve) Hoffman of Fonda, IA, and Shilea (Devin) West of Webster City, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Galen & Elsie Berhow, and Leslie & Marie Wright.

[Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, December 8, 2022 - the man who died Wednesday at a Hamilton County maintenance shed in Jewell has been identified as Jesse Eugene Berhow, of Stratford. Berhow, who was 49, was "caught in an auger," according to a press release from David Turpen, Ellsworth, Jewell and Stanhope chief of police. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Turpen's press release said. The incident happened Wednesday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. Jewell Fire and Rescue; the Ellsworth, Jewell and Stanhope Police Department; and Hamilton County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.]
